Agree with Jon again. Too sobering for words. Most Australians live in blissful ignorance as we have always been fed the narrative that the great USA and UK are such wonders that we must emulate, be dictated to by and bow to. I can’t see the masses every waking up; but some of us are awake thanks to alternative media. Aussies actually believe their banal TV news, their mad ABC and the papers, read Murdoch press. So depressing.
Will it be possible for Australia to benefit from Yanis Varoufakis’ achievement in bringing the Greek people’s needs and desires to the attention of the EU bureaucracy? After all, Varoufakis spent eight years of his life in Australia and remains close friends with economist Steve Keen and journalist Philip Adams.
