Fluoride Action Network | 50 Reasons to Oppose Fluoridation.
By By Paul Connett, PhD
In Europe, only Ireland (73%), Poland (1%), Serbia (3%), Spain (11%), and the U.K. (11%) fluoridate any of their water. Most developed countries, including Japan and 97% of the western European population, do not consume fluoridated water.
In the U.S., about 70% of public water supplies are fluoridated. This equates to approximately 185 million people, which is over half the number of people drinking artificially fluoridated water worldwide. Some countries have areas with high natural fluoride levels in the water. These include India, China and parts of Africa. In these countries measures are being taken to remove the fluoride because of the health problems that fluoride can cause.

Funny, you know General. Last week I went to the dentist with a gum infection. Anyway, he did an x-ray to check the pain wasn’t cavity related and noticed I had no new decay at all, just a few old fillings. mentioned that I’ve been off sugar for more than a year. Which delighted him to no end. Then I mentioned I filter fluoride from my water and brush with non-fluroridated toothpaste.
Well, he changed his tune then! But, I argued, if fluoridation is so great,, why have my teeth actually improved since I stopped sugar but minimised my fluoride intake? He couldn’t argue directly with that, only saying people who take the natural food lifestyle are some of his best revenue-generating customers. But the difference is sugar. He admitted that diet has far more effect on dental health than oral hygiene itself.
Go figure!
Good to see you backing the establishment trained fluoride pusher into a corner.
My dentist always tries to give me the fluoride treatment and I always say no. Never asks why though. If he did, I would ask him in return if he’s heard of Dr Paul Connett.
Dear mawashi10, perhaps your dentist would care to explain this inconvenient fact, as reported by Cheng et al. (2007) in the British Medical Journal: “In some countries such schemes have been withdrawn. These include Germany, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. Systematic information on the rationale behind these decisions is not available. In the Swiss canton of Basel-Stadt, the fluoridation scheme was withdrawn in 2003 after 41 years of operation because other measures were of “comparable effectiveness” to “compulsory medication” (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2001050/).
Cont… “Although the prevalence of caries varies between countries, levels everywhere have fallen greatly in the past three decades, and national rates of caries are now universally low. This trend has occurred regardless of the concentration of fluoride in water or the use of fluoridated salt, and it probably reflects use of fluoridated toothpastes and other factors, including perhaps aspects of nutrition” (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2001050/).
